Ephesians 3:10 - His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms
Make Known
God is Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent. He is All-Powerful, All-Knowing, and All-Present. His ways, beauty, and glory are so far beyond what we can ever know in this life. There are no limits to what God can do and no boundaries of His love and mercy. Still - through Christ and in us, He chooses to make Himself known to the world.
The manifold wisdom of God, the multi-variegated wisdom of God can be seen and witnessed through what He does through the church. It’s kind of hard to take it in and understand. I look at the church and see many imperfections. Of course, I’m looking at a mirror first.
The church, the Christian church worldwide is not perfect. The world is skeptical, suspicious, and down right accusatory when it comes to the church. Some things are fabricated and blown out of proportion. Some things are regrettably and hurtfully true. Still, the church - those who call Christ, Lord - is the vehicle through which God can be seen and experienced in the world.
It’s akin to how I look at myself. I wonder how God can love me unconditionally and how Christ could ever give His life for me. It doesn’t make sense, but I am grateful for the gracious gift. I also wonder how God can make His wisdom known to the world through the broken, imperfect church. I don’t know how, but I’m grateful for the gracious gift and beauty of the church.
Be the church. Let God’s wonder and wisdom be made known.
Peace,
Paul
