Proverbs 26:11 - As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly.
Vomit

How amazing is the Bible, huh? The word of God, in beauty, in horror, in glory, in awfulness of sin, in full scope is everything we need for life. Simple enough for every person to be filled and set straight. Complex and deep enough to wrench and wreck the most intellectual.
I love the vomit verses. There are a few. I know, I know, you are too prudish and prideful to talk about such a disgusting thing. But what amazing truth is discovered about our spiritual lives in the truest form with the “refund” of our ill stomachs.
A chapter earlier, Proverbs 25:16 - If you find honey, eat just enough–
too much of it, and you will vomit.
Yes. Yes. Eat too much of anything, even something good, and you’ll give it back involuntarily. And what amazing truth from our extended family members, dogs. A dog returns to its vomit. I’ve seen it and witnessed it in disgust. Why, Oh why? Nasty, gross dog.
Oh, and a foolish person does the same thing in regards to foolish things.
Don’t be like a dog that laps up refunded bowel fodder. There’s a reason that dog vomited. There’s also a reason a fool goes back to foolish things. Because that lesson has not been learned.
We’re all prone to being fools and foolishness. But learn the lesson. Leave that vomit alone!!
